Peter Swann

Managing Director

As Managing Director Peter is ultimately responsible for all aspects of the business. He brings over 30 years’ experience working in the nuclear industry having started his career at AWE in 1978 as a Health Physics Officer before moving into radiological protection during his time in AEA Technology. He managed the Sources & Waste business within EnergySolutions whilst also wearing his health and safety hat to ensure the safe and compliant disposal of all types of radioactive material. 

Peter is our Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor (DGSA) and is a Chartered Radiation Protection Professional. He is a Member of the Society of Radiological Protection and the Institution of Occupational Health & Safety and holds the NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.

Richard Dawson

Operations Manager

Richard has a wealth of experience having worked in the nuclear industry for almost 30 years, working with radioactive materials at all levels, including HASS.  He entered the nuclear world in 1992 when he joined Amersham International as a Principal Operations Technician moving on to AEA Technology in 1999.  He has been the Operations Manager since 2007 with day to day responsibility for the technicians’ team, transport and packages, operational, shielding and health physics equipment and compliance with regulations and security. 

Richard is qualified for the consignment and carriage of dangerous goods and radioactive goods by road and radioactive materials by air and sea.  He holds an ADR Class 7 driver’s licence and is a Radiation Protection Supervisor.  Like all our team, Richard has completed IOSH Managing Safely. 

Bob Baker

Sales and Technical Manager

Bob has over 30 years’ experience working with radioactive material including 17 years in a Category 1 facility on a nuclear licensed site. His experience spans laboratory scale R&D to management of projects with challenging technical objectives including safe management of radioactive material handling and characterisation. Bob’s career started at UKAEA Harwell in 1986 when he joined as a research chemist. He now uses his technical expertise in the sales environment responding to requests and producing competitive quotations. He is also our Compliance Manager ensuring maintenance of our ISO 9001:2015 and 14001:2015 certifications.

Adam Woolford

Technician

Adam has been a member of the technical team for over 10 years. He is responsible for monitoring, assessing, packing, consigning and transporting surplus radioactive material for recycling or disposal, for calibration of detection equipment and weighing equipment and for annual inspections of lifting equipment. He also undertakes all the electrical PAT testing for us. 

Adam holds a Certificate of Professional Development in Radiation Protection from the University of Strathclyde. He is a Radiation Protection Supervisor and is qualified to consign dangerous goods and radioactive materials by road, sea and air. He is a Known Consignor Supervisor and ADR Dangerous Goods Qualified Driver (Class 7). Adam is also certified to undertake the inspection and testing of electrical equipment.

Keith Orpin

Technician

Keith has over 30 years’ experience working in the nuclear industry having joined UKAEA in 1973. He has more than 20 years’ experience in remote handling techniques and managing Category 1 and 2 nuclear facilities and in design, manufacture, installation and commissioning of plant on sites throughout the UK, Europe and the USA. 

Keith has completed the IOSH Managing Safely and is qualified for dangerous goods by air and Known Consignor security documentation and despatch.

Susan Long

Sales Administrator

With more than 25 years’ experience working in administration, Sue ensures that our sales process runs smoothly, liaising with customers, receipt facilities and our operations team. She will be your first port of call and is our “go to” person to fix any problems.

Sarah Adby

OFFICE Administrator

Sarah is the newest member of the Eckert & Ziegler team and brings with her a wealth of administration experience.  As Office Administrator Sarah is responsible for keeping the office running smoothly; she manages staff training, purchase orders and invoices, vehicle and building maintenance and other related administration tasks.
